Post-Thanksgiving 3 Day Detox Meal Plan
Ah, Thanksgiving. The most wonderful day of the year, followed by a day of meat sweats, lethargy, and a bit of self-loathing. Like a wise comedian once said, “the meal isn’t over when I’m full, the meal’s over when I hate myself”.
So if, like me, you like to consume ENTIRELY too much wine, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and pumpkin pie you may need a little food detox to get you back on track afterwards.
This easy, delicious, 3 day detox meal plan is gluten-free to flatten back out that tummy, is nearly Whole30 & paleo compliant, and clocks in around 1,200 calories a day. I pinky promise you’ll be full and not hangry/cranky and your tastebuds will be in heaven the whole time.
Also- side note- what’s with all these meal plans that tell you to make a new breakfast/lunch/dinner every single day? Who has time for that? How can you afford 300 ingredients for one week? My meal plans keep you with the same breakfast/lunch so you can maximize your ingredients and meal prep in advance, but switch it up for dinner.
Keep in mind this meal plan is for one person. Some of the recipes will make 2 or 4 servings, so pack them up for leftovers or feed the whole family dinner!
Post-Thanksgiving 3 Day Detox Grocery List
Prep Day
- Grocery shop (list above)
- Prepare your lunches for the week and store them in Tupperware in the fridge. Recipe: Meal Prep Lunch Bowls with Spicy Chicken, Roasted Lemon Broccoli, and Caramelized Sweet Potatoes (this makes 4 servings- keep one for day 4!)
Day One
Breakfast: Detox Green Smoothie with Chia Seeds
This is such a perfect, 5-minute, on-the-go breakfast! It’s sweet, delicious, and a great beginner-level green smoothie that will keep you full until lunch.
Blend: 1 cup spinach leaves, 1 banana, 1 cup frozen pineapple, 1 Tbsp. chia seeds, and 1 cup unsweetened almond milk.
Lunch: Meal Prep Lunch Bowls with Spicy Chicken, Roasted Lemon Broccoli, and Caramelized Sweet Potatoes
Spicy chicken, lemon broccoli, and sweet potatoes make for a delicious, healthy lunch you won’t get sick of eating! I can easily eat this all week for lunches and never get bored.
Snack: Munch on 25 roasted almonds as a quick, easy snack to power you through until dinner. They keep you surprisingly full!
Dinner: Sheet Pan Caprese Chicken with Balsamic Glaze
This dinner is too good for words. When I made it the first time, I actually thought, “Ally, this is the best thing you’ve ever made”. After all that heavy holiday food, aren’t you in the mood for something light and fresh? With grocery stores nowadays these produce items are always in season. Coating the chicken in almond flour instead of all-purpose flour keep this gluten-free, however, almond flour is expensive, so you can substitute for regular flour if gluten isn’t an issue for you but price is.
Day Two
Breakfast: Detox Green Smoothie with Chia Seeds
Lunch: Meal Prep Lunch Bowls with Spicy Chicken, Roasted Lemon Broccoli, and Caramelized Sweet Potatoes
Snack: 25 roasted almonds
Dinner: Perfect 10 Minute Broiled Salmon and Veggies
I know it doesn’t look like much, but this dinner is a WINNER. You make a quick lemon/honey dressing that turns boring old salmon and veggies into a light, flavorful dinner you’ll want every night. And did I mention it only takes 10 minutes? This is a serious week night game changer.
Pro family tip: add some roasted potatoes or brown rice for family members who might think this isn’t enough to eat, or swap a chicken breast in for fish-haters.
Day Three
Breakfast: Detox Green Smoothie with Chia Seeds
Lunch: Meal Prep Lunch Bowls with Spicy Chicken, Roasted Lemon Broccoli, and Caramelized Sweet Potatoes
Snack: 25 roasted almonds
Dinner: 20 Minute Steak Fajita Skillet with Avocado
It’s hard not to love something as wonderful as steak fajitas. This recipe is packed with tons of peppers and a knock-out spice rub for flavor and comes together in only 20 minutes. Throw some tortillas, cheese, and lettuce on the table for any family member that wants to make this into a taco, but I’d recommend just eating it plain (or over cauliflower rice!) for your detox.
Love this!! Going to do this this week as I’m going wedding dress shopping this weekend. Can’t wait to try more recipes from you- I love all the ones I’ve tried so far.
Let me know how you like it! How exciting you’re going dress shopping too. Good luck, hope you find the one!!! 🙂
Thanks for the article, i will try this THANKSGIVING 3 DAY DETOX MEAL PLAN
Ally! I love your recipes (especially the GF ones – Celiacs right?) But what do you do about all the leftovers on the meal plan weeks? My Boyfriend is not a leftover guy! Have you ever thought about a leftover meal plan? I’d just love that! Can’t wait to try more recipes!
Heather
Hi Heather! So happy you’re here 🙂 That’s a great idea! I actually love and eat my leftovers each week, but you could also freeze a portion for another time? Or, just buy smaller portions of meat than what’s listed so you don’t feel as wasteful.
This looks fabulous except for the sausage (I’m a Vegetarian). I’m going to use this with this tofurkey recipe, any suggestions or spices I should add to make it fit together perfectly? (Taste-wise) and please visit us: https://www.beckandbulow.com
