This adorable ball of floof, Chewbacca, is the newest member of our family! Yes, we’re huge Star Wars nerds.
Our puppy journey started about 3 months ago when we finally decided to add a little ball of love to the family. Taylor had never had a dog before, and I’ve most recently had a cat, so a goldendoodle seemed like the perfect mix of adorable, easy to train, and non-shedding/lower maintenance.
After researching some breeders, we came across Mustard Seed Ranch, and they had standard F1’s coming soon, which are less common because so many people want smaller dogs. We decided to just go for it- there’s never a perfect time, so why not now?
Chewy’s litter was born on Thanksgiving night, and it was so exciting to get that email with the pictures! We got weekly updates with pictures and it was torture watching those adorable puppies from so far away, but definitely the highlight of every week.
1 week. From the beggining we knew we wanted the cute little brown boy with the white diamond ❤️
And then we got to meet them and make our selection. My sweet Chewy was the only puppy laying in my lap and not running wild and peeing everywhere. I was instantly in love. Waiting to take him home after that felt like an eternity. We got to take home our sweet baby yesterday, and he was an absolute angel on the long drive home. He was quiet and snugly until he eventually fell asleep. Puppy JACKPOT. I was expecting him to cry and throw up.
At home, he was a little hesitant, and it took him a while to warm up and start eating and playing. But once he did, he was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Bursts of play followed by quick, deep naps. Repeat, repeat. He ended up sleeping about 6 hours, and waking up at 4:30 A.M. Luckily I also hit the boyfriend jackpot, because Taylor got up with him and let me rest. Today is more of the same: eat, sleep, play, repeat. Right now he’s napping, which is why I could pop in to give you all an update!
Now, if anyone can give me any advice on crate training, crying, and sleeping through the night, I would very much appreciate it 🙂
